Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026 — added the Accounts sections (optional user accounts launched), named our analytics and hosting providers, noted that logged games feed anonymous site-wide aggregate statistics, described deck visibility (private by default) when the deck builder launched, spelled out exactly what account deletion removes and what remains in anonymous aggregates, and added the Friends & pods section when those features launched. This policy covers the website at thepodcompanion.com. It will be updated separately when the Pod Companion app launches.

Scope

This policy explains what information The Pod Companion website collects when you visit it, how that information is used, and the third-party services involved. It applies only to this website. The Pod Companion mobile application, when released, will have its own separate privacy policy.

Information we collect

Browsing the site requires no account and sends us no personal information. The tools (the calculator and the deck audit) run in your browser; deck lists you paste or link are processed to produce your results and are not stored by us. If you email us, we receive whatever you send in that email; we do not add it to a mailing list or share it with third parties.

If you choose to create an account — accounts are optional, and exist for saving decks and logging games — we collect and store:

• Your email address, and, if you sign in with Google, the name on your Google profile. Google shares only your basic profile (name, email address, profile picture) with us; we never see your password or anything else in your Google account.
• The username and display name you choose on your account page.
• Content you create while signed in, such as saved decks and logged game results.

Account data is used only to provide account features. We do not sell it or share it with advertisers.

Decks you build are private by default. You can set a deck to “unlisted” (visible to anyone you give the link to) or “public” (visible to everyone); either choice is yours and reversible at any time. Public and unlisted deck pages show the deck itself but not your name, username, or any other account information — unless you turn on a public player profile (below), in which case your public decks credit your username and appear on your profile page. Unlisted and private decks never name you regardless.

Logged games also contribute to the anonymous, site-wide aggregate statistics shown on our stats page — for example, overall win rates by turn order and most-played commanders. These aggregates never include player names, usernames, account details, or per-game dates.

Friends and pods

Friend connections are mutual: a request must be accepted before two accounts are friends, and either side can remove the connection at any time. When you have a friendship (including a pending request) with someone, they can see your display name and username; nothing else is shared by friending alone. Your account page includes per-stat privacy settings (public / friends / private) that control what each audience sees on your player profile, described next.

Public player profiles

Every account with a username has a player profile page. By default it is visible only to you and your accepted friends — friends see your public decks plus any stats you set to “friends” or “public”. If you turn on Public profile on your account page (off by default, reversible any time), that page becomes visible to everyone, including search engines, showing your username, display name, public decks, and only the stats you set to “public”: win rate, commanders played, color preferences, and game history each have their own setting. Your game history on the profile shows only your own results (date, your commander, your finish, table size) — it never names the other players in your games.

Pods are groups you join by invitation from a friend, or create yourself. Games you tag to a pod are visible to every member of that pod — including the player names, commanders, and results in them — and the pod page shows group statistics computed from those shared games. Games you don't tag stay visible only to you. Fellow pod members can see your display name and username while you share a pod. Leaving a pod stops future sharing, but games you already tagged remain visible to the pod's members; you can untag or delete any game you logged from your own game log.

Where account data is stored

Account data is stored with Supabase, the database and authentication provider for this site. Authentication (including Google sign-in) is handled by Supabase on our behalf; your profile information is visible only to you and, if you use the friends or pods features, to your friends and fellow pod members as described above — unless you explicitly turn on a public player profile, which is off by default and yours to reverse at any time.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion permanently removes your profile, your decks, your saved-player roster, your friendships and pod memberships, and your name and notes from every game in our database. Anonymized game results — commanders played, placements, turn order, and other details that describe the game rather than you — remain in the aggregate statistics on the stats page and in the pod history of games you tagged to a pod. You can also email us to request deletion.

Information collected by the calculator

The mana base calculator runs entirely in your browser. Inputs you enter into it are not sent to a server. If you share a link containing query parameters (for example, a URL with ?decksize=99), those parameters travel with the URL, but they only affect what the calculator displays.

Cookies and local storage

The Pod Companion website itself does not set cookies for tracking. If you sign in, your session token is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in between visits; it is removed when you sign out. The deck audit tool also caches card data from Scryfall in local storage to make repeat lookups faster. Third-party services embedded in the site (see below) may set cookies or use similar technologies.

Google AdSense

This site is intended to display advertising served by Google AdSense. When AdSense is enabled:

• Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our sites and other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are most visited and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data as described in Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party links

The site links to external resources (for example, referenced articles on other websites). We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.

Children

The site is a general-audience resource. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the services we use. Material changes will be noted at the top of the page.
