Look up a single card, or every card that fits a set of constraints. Filter by color identity, type, set, rarity, mana value, price and format legality — then open any result for its full text, every printing, and current prices.

Color identity is not the same as colors

The color controls have a match mode next to them, and picking the right one is the difference between a useful result list and a confusing one.

• Identity fits (≤) is the Commander question: may I legally run this card? It returns cards whose color identity sits inside the colors you picked, which includes colorless cards and every smaller combination. Pick and you get everything an Azorius commander can have in its 99.
• Identity exactly (=) returns only cards using all of those colors and nothing else — the gold cards of that exact pair or wedge, with no mono-colored or colorless results.
• Colors include (≥) ignores identity and reads the mana cost. This is the one you want when you care what a card costs to cast rather than what deck it is legal in.

The distinction matters because identity counts every colored mana symbol on the card, including symbols in the rules text. A card whose mana cost is entirely generic but whose ability asks for has a red identity and cannot go in a deck without red, even though it is a colorless card by any other measure. Searching by colors would hand it to you; searching by identity correctly will not.

Combining filters

Every field narrows the same query, and a field you leave blank does not narrow anything. That is what makes the specific questions answerable: green instants under two dollars, artifacts with mana value 2 or less that are legal in Commander, rares from one set in one color. The name box also passes through Scryfall syntax untouched, so if you already know that o:draw or pow>=5 is what you want, type it there and it will apply on top of the controls.

Two practical notes. Results show one printing per card, so a card that looks expensive in the grid may have a cheap reprint — open it to see the full list. And searching for a name alone is often the fastest path: type it, press Enter, and click the card.

Every search is linkable. The address bar updates to match whatever you have set, so a search you want to keep or send to your pod is just a copied URL — the Copy link button next to Search does it in one click, and opening that link puts every filter back exactly as you left it.

What opening a card gives you

Clicking a result opens the full card: the image, oracle text, mana value and type line, format legalities, official rulings, every paper printing with its set and collector number, and current prices for each. Prices are market data refreshed daily, and each printing links out if you want to buy it. Nothing here is behind a paywall or an account.

If you have an account

Search on its own is free and needs no sign-in. What an account adds is somewhere to put what you find — the same search panel is built into the deck builder and the collection tracker, where each result carries an add button and a printing picker, and a wishlist that re-prices every night.

FAQ

What is the difference between color identity and colors when searching?

Color identity is the Commander rule: it counts every colored mana symbol anywhere on the card, including in its rules text, and it decides whether a card is legal under a given commander. Colors means only the mana cost. So a card whose cost is entirely generic but whose ability requires red mana has a red identity and cannot go in a deck without red, even though its cost shows no color at all. Use Identity fits when you are checking what you may legally run, and Colors include when you care what the card costs to cast.

Can I search for cards under a certain price?

Yes — the price fields take a minimum, a maximum, or both, and combine with every other filter, so "green ramp under $2 that's legal in Commander" is one query. Prices are market data refreshed daily. Remember the grid shows one printing per card, so something that looks expensive may have a cheaper reprint; open the card to see every printing with its own price.

Does this show every printing of a card?

Not in the results grid — that shows one printing per card on purpose, so a card with forty reprints doesn't fill the page. Click any result and you get the full list: every paper printing with its set, collector number and current price, plus oracle text, legalities and official rulings.

Do I need an account to search for cards?

No. Search, card details and prices are free and need no sign-in. An account only adds somewhere to put the cards you find — a deck, a collection, or a wishlist.

Why does my search say to add a filter?

Format legality on its own matches most of Magic, so the search waits until at least one narrowing filter is set — a name, color, type, set, rarity, mana value or price. Any one of them is enough.
