Monthly price report · Cheapest paper printing
Commander price movers: October 2026
Reality Fracture and its Commander decks came out on 2 October, and they set the month. Jace, Multiverse Architect pulled up Divergent Transformations and Aminatou, the Fateshifter, Tam, the Possibility did the same for Oath of Teferi and Onakke Oathkeeper, and The Ur-Sphinx for Magister Sphinx. Nine of the ten fallers were reprinted that same day, in Reality Fracture Commander or the new Foundations Commander starter decks.

Divergent TransformationsCommander 2016+787%$0.47 → $4.17Why: Jace, Multiverse Architect, released in Reality Fracture Commander on 2 October, has a −3 that works like a polymorph, and it already plays this card more than any other commander on EDHREC, in 19% of Jace's decks. The price climbed every week after Jace came out. (edhrec.com 1, scryfall.com 2, mtgrocks.com 3)

How these prices are measured
A card’s price here is its floor: the TCGplayer market price of its cheapest released paper printing, as MTGJSON recorded it each night. That is what it costs to put the card in a deck, so a move in the floor is a move every player pays. Foil and etched copies count only when no regular copy has a price, and preorders never count, because nobody holds those cards yet.
Each end of the month is the median of three nights, so one odd sale cannot make or break a row: the last 3 nights of September (28 Sep, 29 Sep, 30 Sep) against the last 3 nights captured in October (29 Oct, 30 Oct, 31 Oct). A riser has to finish at $2.00 or more and gain at least $1.00. A faller has to start at $2.00 or more and lose at least $1.00. Both lists are ranked by percentage, and the dollar lists catch the expensive cards a percentage ranking misses. 31,897 Commander-legal cards had a price at both ends.
This site’s own nightly price capture from Scryfall began on 21 October 2026, so this month’s nights come from MTGJSON’s archive of the same TCGplayer prices, checked against Scryfall on the nights both recorded. “What the data shows” lines cover reprints and announced reprints, from Scryfall’s release dates; bans, Game Changers changes and EDHREC rank were not recorded night by night this month, so none are shown as data. A reason under “Why” is given only when a specific card or event can be named and linked. Otherwise the row says no clear cause.
