Miracle Worker precon upgrade guide
Fifteen of the box's 22 ordinary enchantments cost five or more, and Aminatou takes up to four generic mana off whichever one you draw first.

100 cards, 37 lands (14 basic), 23 creatures, average mana value 3.95. Mana sources: 26 white, 23 blue, 25 black.
No Game Changers and no mass land denial, so it sets no bracket floor. How brackets work →
What are the best Miracle Worker upgrades?
Ordered by what each does once Aminatou is on the table, with price a distant second. Everything outside the two shocklands costs under $2.
- Anguished Unmaking ($1.58). An instant that exiles any nonland permanent for {1}{W}{B}, and you lose 3 life when it resolves. It reaches the planeswalker, the enchantment and the artifact that Swords to Plowshares can't.
- Banishing Light ($0.11). The same exile at {2}{W}, and it's an enchantment, so casting it draws off Mesa Enchantress, makes a 4/4 Angel off Sigil of the Empty Throne and gives opposing creatures -1/-1 off Doomwake Giant. Drawn first in a turn, Aminatou's miracle cost for it is {W}.
- Godless Shrine and Hallowed Fountain ($8.47 and $6.97). Two untapped duals, for 2 life each, in the slots of Bojuka Bog and Halimar Depths. Together they are $15.44, three quarters of the whole bill.
- Vindicate ($0.29). Destroys any permanent, lands included, for {1}{W}{B} at sorcery speed.
- Despark ($0.24). Two mana at instant speed to exile a permanent with mana value four or more.
- Darkslick Shores, Concealed Courtyard and Seachrome Coast ($1.65, $0.90 and $0.34). Three duals that come in untapped while you control two or fewer other lands, which is when the box's tapped lands hurt most.
That's all nine swaps. Each cut is argued in the cut list beside the card that replaces it.
Fifteen enchantments that cost less than they say
Twenty-two of the 25 enchantment cards in this box aren't Rooms, and fifteen of those cost five or more. A mana-value check calls that a bloated top end. Aminatou's second ability says otherwise: every enchantment card in your hand has miracle, at its mana cost reduced by {4}. Only generic mana comes off, so the coloured pips stay.
One with the Multiverse goes from {6}{U}{U} to {2}{U}{U}. Shark Typhoon goes from {5}{U} to {1}{U}. Sigil of the Empty Throne drops from {3}{W}{W} to {W}{W}, Extravagant Replication and Archetype of Imagination from {4}{U}{U} to {U}{U}, Demon of Fate's Design to {B}{B}, and Arvinox, the Mind Flail from {4}{B}{B}{B} to {B}{B}{B}. The three Rooms don't fit this argument, because a Room card in your hand counts both doors together (Cramped Vents // Access Maze reads as mana value 11) and you only ever cast one of them.
Look at what's left after the discount: almost nothing but coloured pips. That's why the mana section below isn't a footnote. The cheaper these cards get, the more they ask of the colours and the less of the land count.
Only the first card you draw each turn gets to miracle
Aminatou's other ability is built for this. At the beginning of your upkeep she surveils 2, so you look at the top two cards, bin what you don't want and set the draw step's card yourself. If it's an enchantment, you reveal it and pay the miracle cost.
The rulings narrow it in three ways. Draws happen one at a time, so Brainstorm and Thirst for Meaning draw three cards and only the first can miracle. A card put into your hand without the word "draw" doesn't count, which rules out Telling Time and Diabolic Vision. And you can miracle on any turn, not only yours, as long as it's the first card you've drawn that turn.
The last part matters here. Once your draw step has happened, your first draw is spent, so Ponder and a main-phase Brainstorm do nothing for it. Brainstorm cast in your upkeep, before the draw, would be the first draw, but it costs you the card Aminatou just set up. On an opponent's turn, Brainstorm, Thirst for Meaning, cycling Cast Out, or sacrificing Mind Stone or Commander's Sphere to draw can be the first draw, and the miracle casts an enchantment that has no flash at instant speed.
Four cards in the box already have miracle printed on them and gain nothing from Aminatou: Terminus ({W}), Entreat the Angels ({X}{W}{W}), Redress Fate ({3}{W}) and Metamorphosis Fanatic ({1}{B}). They compete with the enchantments for the same single draw. With the swaps the deck holds 24 enchantment cards, down from 25, so 28 cards in the 100 can miracle.
Four spells out, and the eight-drop that gets no discount
Aminatou's Augury costs {6}{U}{U}, exiles the top eight cards of your library, lets you put a land from among them onto the battlefield and then cast one spell of each nonland type from them for free this turn. That's a fine card. It's also a sorcery, so it gets nothing from Aminatou, and the box already has One with the Multiverse at the same eight mana, which she drops to {2}{U}{U}. Two blue eight-drops is one too many, and only one of them gets cheaper, so the sorcery is the cut. Its slot goes to Anguished Unmaking.
Return to Dust is {2}{W}{W} and hits artifacts and enchantments only, so it can't touch a plain creature, a planeswalker or a land, and it asks for WW on turn four with 24 white sources in the box against the 36 the calculator wants for WW by turn three. Vindicate hits any permanent for {1}{W}{B}, with a single white pip.
Timely Ward gives one creature indestructible. That beats Time Wipe's destroy but not Terminus, which puts creatures on the bottom of the library, and it protects one body in a 23-creature deck. Despark takes the slot, since it answers whatever a table builds around at four mana or more.
Spirit-Sister's Call costs five and at your end step lets you sacrifice a permanent that shares a type with a card in your graveyard to return that card. Each recursion is a permanent for a permanent, and the returned card is exiled if it leaves. Banishing Light is also an enchantment, so it feeds the same Sigil of the Empty Throne and Mesa Enchantress triggers the Call did, for two mana less, and it removes a permanent as well.
Twelve tapped lands down to seven
Twelve of the 37 lands enter tapped with no condition: the three Temples, Arcane Sanctum, the three bouncelands, the three Thriving lands, Bojuka Bog and Halimar Depths. The swaps cut five of them. Bojuka Bog taps only for black, so its graveyard hate comes with a tapped Swamp. Halimar Depths taps only for blue and reorders three cards, and Aminatou's surveil 2 already sorts the top two every upkeep. The three Temples scry 1 and have the same overlap.
Godless Shrine and Hallowed Fountain replace Bog and Halimar. Darkslick Shores, Concealed Courtyard and Seachrome Coast replace the Temples, and from your fourth land on they enter tapped like the Temples did, minus the scry. That leaves seven always-tapped lands, the three bouncelands among them. Each taps for two coloured mana, and the land it returns to your hand is a replay.
Notice what didn't move. Black stays at 25 sources, blue at 23, and white rises from 24 to 26, because four of the five new lands make white and only two of the five cut ones did. The double-pip problem is the same size it was. Six black cards ask for BB or more, led by Ancient Cellarspawn at {1}{B}{B}, and 25 sources have BB on turn three about 72% of the time on the play. Seven blue cards ask the same of UU and 23 sources manage about 67%. White improves from about 69% to 74%, with two more sources and one fewer WW spell now that Return to Dust is gone.
I'd rather be straight about the limit. A three-colour deck with 37 lands doesn't realistically reach 36 sources of any colour, and the miracle costs above are mostly BB, UU, WW and BBB. The swaps fix speed, not colour. Watery Grave ($9.86) is the next land I would buy, a blue-black source that is untapped on any turn, but Star Trek reprints it on 13 November 2026 along with Godless Shrine and Hallowed Fountain. If you can wait, the shocklands may be cheaper after that date.
Expensive on paper, and staying
Redress Fate looks like an eight-mana sorcery. Its miracle cost is {3}{W}, and it returns every artifact and enchantment card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Aminatou's surveil can put enchantments in that graveyard every upkeep, and The Master of Keys and Hall of Heliod's Generosity both use it as well.
Metamorphosis Fanatic at {1}{B} is a lifelink body that returns a creature card from the graveyard with a lifelink counter. Terminus at {W} is a one-mana sweeper on the turn you're behind. Sphere of Safety ($4.45) makes each attacker cost {X}, where X is the enchantments you control, and a board of five enchantments charges {5} per creature.
Ondu Spiritdancer ($10.38) costs five and does nothing until an enchantment arrives, and it stays. Whenever an enchantment enters under your control it can make a token copy of it, once a turn, and a token copy of Sigil of the Empty Throne makes every later enchantment spell worth two 4/4 Angels.
Three Game Changers I left on the shelf
Rhystic Study ($61.06), Smothering Tithe ($56.09) and Enlightened Tutor ($32.40) are all Game Changers, and each one lifts the bracket floor to 3. Price is the second reason, not the first. Of the three, Enlightened Tutor is the one that works with Aminatou, because an enchantment tutored to the top of the library is the next card you draw, and Moon-Blessed Cleric in the box already does that job for {2}{W}. Mystic Remora ($10.97) isn't a Game Changer, but its cumulative upkeep climbs every turn and the cards it taxes are noncreature spells only. It's the first spell I'd add after these nine.
Bracket 1 is where the box starts, and since no add here is on the Game Changers list it is where the upgraded deck stays.
What the nine swaps cost and move
Average mana value falls from 4.1 to 3.95, always-tapped lands from 12 to 7, and enchantment cards from 25 to 24. Singles for the nine adds come to $20.55 at the cheapest released printing, which for Godless Shrine is a promo and for Banishing Light a card from The List. The shocklands are $15.44 of it, and the other seven cards are $5.11 together. Prices are from October 2026 and the Star Trek reprint may move two of them.

FAQ
Can I get a miracle off Brainstorm or Ponder?
Only if it is the first card you draw that turn. On your own turn the draw step has already used that up, so Ponder or a main-phase Brainstorm can't do it. On an opponent's turn, Brainstorm, Thirst for Meaning, cycling Cast Out, or sacrificing Mind Stone or Commander's Sphere can be the first draw. Brainstorm and Thirst for Meaning draw three one at a time, and only the first card is eligible. Telling Time and Diabolic Vision put a card into your hand without drawing it, so they never trigger a miracle.
What does One with the Multiverse cost with Aminatou out?
{2}{U}{U} instead of {6}{U}{U}, if it is the first card you draw that turn. Once it resolves you can cast one spell from your hand or the top of your library for free each turn, so landing it off a first draw starts a free spell every turn after.
How much do the nine Miracle Worker swaps cost?
$20.55 at the cheapest released printing, October 2026. Godless Shrine and Hallowed Fountain are $15.44 of that and the other seven cards are $5.11 together. Star Trek reprints both shocklands on 13 November 2026, so those two prices may fall.
Do the fast lands stay untapped all game?
No. Darkslick Shores, Concealed Courtyard and Seachrome Coast come in untapped as your first, second or third land and tapped from the fourth on. Godless Shrine and Hallowed Fountain enter untapped on any turn if you pay 2 life.
Should I add Rhystic Study or Smothering Tithe to this deck?
Both are Game Changers, so either one raises the bracket floor to 3, and they cost $61.06 and $56.09. Enlightened Tutor ($32.40) is a Game Changer too. Mystic Remora ($10.97) is not, and it is the one I would look at first.
Do Terminus and Time Wipe fit a deck with 23 creatures?
They are the way out when you are behind. Terminus costs {W} as a miracle and puts every creature on the bottom of a library, so nothing dies and no death triggers fire. Time Wipe returns one of your creatures to hand first and then destroys the rest, so Nightmare Shepherd and Phenomenon Investigators (on Believe) do trigger. Entreat the Angels makes 4/4 flying Angels to rebuild with.
